Your Friday Five | Lukaku Special

Jose Mourinho catfished Alvaro Morata and Arsenal go all in for another French striker. It’s a special TransferTalk Friday Five.

Was Morata duped by Jose Mourinho? The Special One had been courting Morata since May, yet in the end, Mourinho said yes to Romelu Lukaku after Real Madrid and ManU couldn’t agree on a price for the Spanish striker. Now we’ll wait for the deal to close.

AC Milan continue to make smart signings: The Italian giants will feature a rebuilt side when they start the 2017/18 Serie A season. Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie, Ricardo Rodriguez, Andre’ Silva and Hakan Calhanoglu will be joined by former Atalanta right-back Antonio Conti. The 24 year-old was voted the League’s best defender last season.

Everton eye the top four: They’ll miss Lukaku’s goals, but Everton finally have a long-term plan in place (even if they welcome Wayne Rooney back) to consistently battle for a Champions League spot. With the door seemingly closed for Ronald Koeman at Barcelona, the Dutch legend can focus on the present and future of Everton football.

Arsenal upgrade their frontline with Lyon’s Lacazette: Another French striker and another predictable transfer-window strategy from Arsenal. Alexandre Lacazette will have to be great right away, after being compared to club legend Ian Wright. Is Monaco’s Lemar next?

Lukaku and Pogba take LA: They’re training together in Los Angeles and shooting rap videos in their spare time. Welcome to modern football.

  1. Lukaku is a great addition to Man U. Lacazette is like a French Alexis Sanchez and perfect fit for Arsenal. The EPL just keeps getting better.
